ART-CAFÉ

Fauna in art form

This inviting shop owned by Eduardo Goulart is located in the center of Serra do Piloto, close to Praça de São João Marcos. Despite having opened shortly before the 2014 carnival, it has become a meeting point and attracts attention due to the colorful handicrafts on show.

The artist in charge of the creations exhibited planned and built the small shop next to his house with special attention to details, such as carved wooden doors, millstones and an enormous scenic tree to place the macaws and colorful birds, his flagships among Brazilian fauna.

Eduardo always enjoyed working with handicrafts in wood, and started as a hobby making charming bird houses that he sold to friends. He improved his technique and currently produces endless items such as seagulls, owls and bird houses. The items are suspended and spread throughout the shop, besides several examples placed strategically on the outside to attract fascinated customers.

As the name suggests, the area also has room for a coffee shop with several tables to savor a delicious espresso coffee and have a light snack before moving on. Art-Café also sells typical regional items, such as fruit preserves, peppers and liqueurs.

The talented and charming Eduardo alternates with his wife in assisting customers. However, when asked about his productions, he makes a point of explaining in detail, serenely excited and with a shining eye, demonstrating his love of nature and the delightful handicrafts he produces.
