Living for art

The magnetic personality of Bruno Marques has taken a number of paths in his professional life, since he made the decision to work only in activities with some relation to art and culture. His first activities were with the Cia da Lua theater troupe. He later went on to study in Universidade Federal Fluminense – UFF, and became aware that despite the difficulties his dreams were not impossible.

Among his occupations – all of a cultural nature as he had decided – he recalls having also worked in a resort with art and theater for children. Around 2004, he planned the Programa Perfil TV show solely related to culture. Two of his friends were the entertainers and Bruno was the producer and cameraman. The program is seen to this day on TV Comunitária – channel 99 and in NET – channel 199 with the same two entertainers.

He subsequently created the Casarão cultural facility in a century-old house, which he had to abandon due to delays in the release of funding. As giving up was never part of his plans, he and his friends continued with theater performances in the garage, and created a large studio to disclose the region’s culture.

As a next step, he was admitted by Conselho Municipal de Cultura de Angra dos Reis, where he had contacts and absorbed lessons from people experienced in the area, such as Dr. Érico from the Ateneu Angrense de Letras e Artes, with whom he had the privilege of working for two years.

Bruno Marques currently contributes even more to his town’s cultural scenario by means of an office in Fundação de Cultura de Angra dos Reis – Cultuar. One of his achievements was his struggle for the annual performance of The Life and Passion of Christ to be held with local and not big-city actors, in addition to encouraging the insertion of the region’s folk culture into the script.

Bruno was invited to play the role of Jesus Christ, because in addition to being an excellent actor, he was known for his suffering expression. He let his beard grow and has played the same role for three years in a row, always very successfully.
