COOPERATIVA DE ARTESÃOS SAÍRA-SETE-CORES
Where native art finds its place
The Cooperative bears the name of Paraty’s symbolic bird, and was founded seven years ago by Sebrae and several partners, with the intention of centralizing in one location the production of handicrafts by a number of different peoples, such as caiçaras, quilombo inhabitants and Indians, as well as urban artists. All of the items are intense with the spirit of Paraty, with its rustic attraction and uncommon creativity.
The Cooperative has as its associates native artists only, who make handcrafted items or who live in Paraty. It currently totals 80 artisans, who are all registered and committed to producing quality work, strictly hand-made, that show respect for nature and sustainability of the regional eco-system.
The small colorful shop in the historical town center is located next to Casa da Cultura de Paraty, and displays a diversity of items, including basketwork, wood carvings, light fixtures, fabric handicrafts, unusual pin-hole photographs and no end of items to suit all tastes and purses. All of this employs natural or recycled raw materials.
