As a self-taught artist J. Nathureza – that is how Jorge signs his canvasses – started to express himself in art as a teenager. His professional career dates back to 1978 when he was a little over 20 years of age. He gave up several times during his career, but after a while always returned to what he refers to as his great companion.

Jorge developed his technique until he matured his Naïf style that he currently uses. In addition to several individual and collective exhibitions, he also exhibits and sells his paintings at the Hippy Fair at Praça General Osório, in the heart Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro.

Always circulating in the world of arts, Jorge Nathureza is also a professional curator and founded a company named Le Bateau Curadoria, which allowed him to leverage careers of other artists and bring together art and the public by means of a number of successful exhibitions that he organized.

He also became a curator in Mangaratiba’s well-known Fundação Mário Peixoto, to which he has always provided his valuable contribution, also with shows of international artists. Jorge takes pride in having increased attendances to the exhibitions, attracting an ample public during his three years as the institution’s curator.

His great satisfaction is seeing art as a frankly sparkling activity in his beloved Mangaratiba, and to this end he is always willing to participate in unprecedented projects to encourage new talents and to preserve the town’s vocation as a regional cultural breeding ground.

Jorge is also a poet and currently painting to him is a captivating hobby. Visitors are welcome at this studio, subject to scheduling.
