Neuseli is a native of the idyllic Praia do Aventureiro and takes great pride in boasting her caiçara origins. She is a defender of the people from this local beach and has faced strenuous struggles to ensure property rights for her beloved community.

Teacher Neuseli is known by everyone and proudly recalls her 30 years of reading and writing taught to her pupils. As a writer, she has four books published and modestly asserts that “they are not hers, but belong to everyone”, yet written to record the background of the caiçara people with their cultural wealth and specific legends.

Guided by the motto of practicing good deeds regardless of the benefactors, she is the instigator of a number of actions, including texts and photo records of activities on the island, creating topics that are always published in the local newspaper, O Eco. Neuseli knows the island like the palm of her hand and can recite the names of all the patron saints of the twelve churches existing on Ilha Grande, for which she is a preservation enthusiast. She has also donated several items for exhibition in Museu Caiçara, a project by the entity in charge of Ecomuseu Ilha Grande.

The captivating Neuseli has plenty of tales in her mind, such as in one of her books on the fantastic Ilha Grande legends learned during her childhood. A nature lover, in particular of the wind with which she is said to speak, her father calls her the East Wind. For the initiated, the wind brings light and good weather!
