Nicanor, a Peruvian visual artist living in Paraty since 1986, employs lively colors to portray caiçara (fishing community people) culture and the beauty of the Atlantic Coast Rain Forest. He refers to himself as somebody who has learned on his own and has always loved painting. Fishing inspires him and brings back an affectionate memory, for him a reality experienced in Peru.

Nicanor worked for many years with scenography and has taken part in several collective exhibitions. Many of his paintings are on show at the Arpoador restaurant in Paraty’s historical town center. His creations may also be viewed in his personal page in the social networks or in the pleasant studio located in the district of Condado, where the artist provides an ample area in his home for a community library organized by his wife Claudia.
