Overlooking an exuberant and ample green area, with waterfalls and natural pools, the admirable property owned by Cristiane and Dario Rossera, 7 km on the Paraty to Cunha road is an invitation to delight. Dario is Swiss and has always enjoyed cooking for friends. With so many requests by people to come in and bathe in the river or take pictures of the incredible entrance bridge, the couple had the idea of opening a restaurant in 2001.

Besides providing quality cooking, the Villa Verde offers customers a memorable encounter with nature. The experience starts right away on arriving, on crossing the suspension bridge over the Perequê river. Visitors will then enjoy the beautiful native vegetation covered in flowers on the other side of the bridge, amidst the numerous colorful birds such as a flock of green-headed tanagers, and bathe refreshingly in the several natural pools formed by the river. The ample restaurant of a rustic architecture that harmonizes with the environment is surrounded by greenery and can accommodate 120 persons.

Husband and wife welcome their guests and take care of the kitchen. The menu is varied in offerings, including delicious starters with several kinds of carpaccio – in particular pupunha palm hearts grown on the property – plus the house specialty, home-made pastas that please every appetite. Very fresh salads are prepared with home-grown ingredients. Risottos and red meats, poultry and fish are much ordered. Typical dishes are served on special days, such as feijoada (black bean stew) and ribs with plantain farofa.

The cuisine is mouth-watering and the atmosphere is invigorating. A venue for an unhurried visit and to return to whenever possible.
