Endowed with 73 years of accrued experience and many stories to tell, the good natured Geraldo Juvenal lives with his family at the Quilombo Santa Rita de Bracuí, where he also manages a small but profitable business, Bar da Cachoeira, located in a rustic spot beside the Bracuí river.

These simple yet very pleasant facilities are open to the public from Friday to Sunday. There is a waterfall for bathing, grilled meats are available for meals together with cold beer, as well as typical dishes prepared served by the owner and his assistants, such as feijoada, or black bean stew, fish with plantains, chicken with palm hearts, which should be ordered previously in case of group visits. He laughs when telling the story of a group of Koreans who wanted to be served snake, but as they had not placed an order, they ended up with a savory chicken rustic style.

Juvenal, as he is usually named, is a quilombo resident of simple habits yet steeped in wisdom. To preserve his health and fitness, he eats only corn meal in the morning. He is an expert at drying meat or fish in the sun. He has been hit by lightning and had a motorcycle accident, but nothing knocks him down. He is fully aware of his background and that of his friends and neighbors, whose land was inherited from the Breves family in the 19th century. He insists on going through the woods to show the stones that were part of the buildings in those days, besides proudly showing an ancient mango tree that he alleges is 200 years old and came from Africa.
