Trindade village is located roughly 30 km from Paraty, enjoys environmental protection within the Área de Proteção Ambiental do Cairuçu and is known for its exuberant beaches, trails and waterfalls, as well as for the typical rustic routine of a fishing village, with its quiet streets and the day-to-day affairs of artists and residents who chose to live away from the big town stress. The environment at times recalls the 1960s, and is perfect for relaxing and remaining distant from everything, simply enjoying the local scenery’s calm and beauty.

Rua das Artes in the heart of the village was given its name as on weekends and holidays it serves to harbor the Feira de Artesãos, with an array of items fashioned and sold by Trindade’s artists. The eighteen currently registered are part of a well structured organization – Trindarte Associação de Artesãos, which holds the exhibition and fair, formally exists and boasts a logo on its visiting card. One of its ongoing aspirations is the creation of a cultural spot and its own premises, as explained by Kal, the pleasant and energetic person in charge. In addition to fashioning their own 100% crafted items, one of the conditions for artisans to join the 15-year-old association requires them to attend their stalls during the function, in direct contact with the public and providing empathy in both directions.

The variety of exhibits is ample: tie-dye garments (batik-like painting on fabric), woven or knitted items, sculptures, likenesses of characters such as fairies, gnomes and other playful topics, colorful hats, costume jewelry of diversified natural materials and silversmiths, among other goods.

Should there be enough time, it is worth visiting the paradise-like beaches close to the village, such as Cepilho, de Fora and do Meio. Or going on a walk of roughly one hour from the village to Praia do Cachadaço, with its stunning natural pool. Very much worthwhile.
