Ampla’s Social Commitment in the Communities
Ampla believes that community sustainability in its concession area is directly related to the sustainability of its business. Under the aegis of its Ampla Awareness Program, the company’s social programs promote a series of long-term actions that train children and young people, as well as short-term activities that assist in the day-to-day of adults.
The Ampla Awareness Program is an important relationship channel with society. Since its creation in 2004, roughly 2.1 million people have already been benefited by its projects in the State of Rio de Janeiro.
The ‘EcoAmpla Awareness’ program is an example of an environmental and conscious use action that encourages selective gathering and the exchange of solid residues for a discount in electricity bills. On the other hand ‘Ampla Awareness on Wheels’ is focused on education, whereby visitors will learn in a playful and interactive manner the path taken by electricity, from generation and distribution to its use in their households.
The ‘Ampla Efficiency Awareness’ program was devised in order to contribute to energy efficiency, and among other actions it exchanges older refrigerators for newer and more efficient ones. Since 2006, over 60,000 new refrigerators have been handed over to customers in low-income communities across the company’s concession area. In order to teach how to use these new appliance and others, ‘Ampla “How-to” Awareness’ provides lectures and workshops in community facilities and visits households in order to provide the best tips on how to save electricity, control family budgets and take care of the environment. Ampla’s community activities do not end there. In order to spread Culture further, the company has developed ‘Ampla Cultural Awareness’, a traveling project that takes music, art and dancing to a number of towns in its area of activities.
By means of Ampla Awareness, this distributor seeks to effectively contribute to society’s sustainable growth. Education is a key ally in making children, young people and adults aware of the importance of the conscious use of electricity and the rational use of natural resources.
