CLUBE DOS AVENTUREIROS
Motivated by nature
The great passion of these trailblazers is contact with nature and its preservation. The Club was founded in 2000 by Hugo de Castro from Rio de Janeiro, and since then has been contributing to preserving the environment by means of mapping trails and taking notes of the flora and fauna in the parks and environmental reserves in the regions visited. Having over 20 years of experience in mountaineering and extended hikes, Hugo and the group have already plotted all the trails in the Costa Verde region, as well as others beyond the limits of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The Club is a non-profit organization and there is no charge for the hikes. Its members do not act as professional guides or seek out customers in hotels or travel agencies, but anybody who wishes to participate will be very welcome. In the Club’s official website it is possible to view reports of hikes in the past, tips on what to take, duration, degrees of difficulty and advice on how to prepare for the adventure. Among the extensive list of hikes in the Costa Verde region, the highlights are: the Gold trail on the Estrada Imperial (Mangaratiba-Rio Claro); the hike from Serra do Piloto to Mazomba; the crossing of Ponta da Joatinga, which takes five days; the complete circling of Ilha Grande (eight days); climbing Pedra da Jamanta by way of Saco do Mamanguá, a tropical fiord of breathtaking beauty close to Paraty; the Pico do Frade, in Parque Nacional da Serra da Bocaina; the trail to Pico do Papagaio on Ilha Grande; the Angra dos Reis-Bocaina crossing, through Parque Estadual do Cunhambebe; the trails in Parque Estadual da Pedra Branca; and many other options including from light walks of a few hours to more challenging adventures that offer enjoyable days in direct contact with wild nature. For those who already break new ground or who dream of doing so, Clube dos Aventureiros will become a strong ally in suggesting trails that have already been tried as well as sharing unforgettable days in idyllic natural scenery along the entire Costa Verde.
